S10B Oboe
The Howarth S10 oboe has been developed to be as light as possible and is manufactured from the traditional Grenadilla wood used for our professional model instruments. The use of close finger spacing and covered keys allow smaller hands to easily navigate the full range of the instrument.
An ideal upgrade from the Howarth Junior Oboe, the S10 will take players up to Grade 6 standard. A favourite instrument with Education Authorities and Music Services throughout the UK, it is particularly suitable for students due to its covered holes, close finger spacing for smaller hands, and light weight for ease of handling.
The S10 is a thumbplate (English) system with simple octaves, a low Bb key, C-D trill key, low B-C link, and a forked F vent.

The Howarth S20 oboe is an intermediate model designed for the keen student player, and easily meets the needs of playing up to Grade 8 and beyond. An ideal upgrade from the Howarth Junior Oboe or S10 model, the S20 features some more advanced keywork options than the S10 model, but is still significantly lighter in weight than our professional models. It also has covered keywork to make it easier for younger players and those with smaller hands to navigate the full range of the instrument.
The S20 is a thumbplate (English) system with semi-automatic octaves, C-D and C-C# trill keys, forked F and low Bb vents, and a low B-C link.

S40 Full Automatic Oboe
The Howarth S40C oboe is a graduate model designed for intermediate- to advanced-level players, and is an ideal upgrade from our student models. Still comparatively light in weight, and therefore suitable for accomplished young musicians, the keywork on the S40C has many of the same features as a professional-level instrument, with a greater variety of fingerings and trills than the S20C. This oboe will comfortably take players past grade 8 to advanced level.
This S40C is a conservatoire system with fully automatic octaves, a third octave key, C-D, C-C#, Ab-Bb, A-Ab, and low C-C# (“Banana”) trill keys, forked F and low Bb vents, a left-hand F key, and a low B-C link.
