Louis Lot Flute

Louis Lot flute with original head joint, re-tuned to the Altus/Wibb scale, rebuilt and re-plated by Nick Crabbe and full repad by Sebastian Bell. The serial number dates this flute to around 1875. Louis Lot (1807-96) was an important figure in the development of the flute as we know it today. When Louis Dorus was appointed as professor of flute at the Paris Conservatoire in 1860, Louis Lot became official supplier of flutes to the Conservatoire. This was an important beginning point for the development of the modern flute as Louis Lot continued his develpment of the Boehm system, with othere makers such as Haynes and Verne Q. Powell following his lead.
